Tomb of Annihilation (Session 5)

The party met Volo and soon found him to be a source of many tales. One they hear involves a green dragon. Her bones marking the location of a hidden treasure trove. Another tale they hear an ancient beautiful Chultan Queen Zalkoré. Her only memorial being the garden palace of Nangalore. 
While Alyssia and Saralon talked to Volo, Julian played some tunes and picked some rival pockets while Orion and Thavakean chilled or crashed out. Alyssia was keen to buy Volos new book but 50 gold was a bit much. Volo offered a solution with a dinosaur race! It turns out he bought one while drunk and looking to make some money back. They let him know they are interested but it's still a couple days away.
The next morning the party decide to help Julian on his heist and travel to Fort Belurian. As they walked through the gates Julian slipped off skirting the shadows of the Bazaar. Alyssia and Thavakean soon meet the Castellan of the fort; Gruta Halsdottir. who questions their reasons for visiting, Alyssia tries to gain some information but the Castellan seems to lose patience with the Professor informing them where to get a Charter of Exploration then walking off. 
Meanwhile Orion chats to the Blacksmith and locals trying to find out information about Theo or Artus. Saralon however takes the distraction to heart looking for something to set on fire... 
As Alyssia makes an unseen servant orange distract a guard Julian slips inside the Inner Bailey. Inside he finds a guard chatting to a dinosaur stable master and starts ghosting around. Alyssia finds a quiet spot and soon lends a distracting squirrel in the form of her familiar Solus. 



Orion having found notices about other guides then chats to a guard kindly giving the guard a ice pack to cool down. Julian makes it upstairs as Solus knocks a lantern onto a dinosaur. As the chaos ensues inside it isn't any better outside. Sarlon drops caltrops outside the horse stables and sets the building on fire. Guards are soon rushing about yelling as the party starts thinking about leaving. Julian finds the prize; a lock box in the Commanders room. Unable to break the lock he stuff the box in his pack to work on later hoping he has the right thing. He slips out the window using his rope to first make his way down then climbing a ladder on the Fortress walls and descending there. The party regroup and head back to Port Nyanzaru.

  As Orion wonders how to respond to the guard saying it's Camp Vengeance Undril steps forth, "I am Undril Silvertusk, sent to support the Order of the Gauntlet". With that declaration there is some excited chatter at the gatehouse and some cheers of "reinforcements are here!" as the party are allowed inside - except Crumb who the guards insist must stay outside. As the party enter inside they are greeted by Captain Perne Salhana. She seems glad the party is here and tells them many are sick and wounded. The hopes of nice rest are dashed as they realise the camp is in a sorry state. Commander Niles Breakbone steps out from his Command Tent hearing the talking outside muttering something about the Order letting anyone in these days then starts barking orders for the Captain to get them set to work before returning to his tent. Tomb of Annihilation (Session 18)

  Noting the ice as another mystery of the jungle the party continue on. A heavy mist descends upon the Aldani Basin making visibility drop to only about a dozen feet.  Later in the afternoon as they continue through the Aldani Basin something stirs in the swampy water. Three  Giant Crocodiles come lunging out attacking the party! One of the two remaining Tribal Warriors is torn in half, while Crumb is viciously attacked along with Eku.  The remaining warrior rushed forward plunging his spear into the Crocodile attacking Eku and ducking a tail swipe from the creature. As Thavakean explodes with rage, shadowy tendrils lash out at all the Crocodiles as he brings his axe down on the one attacking his faithful dinosaur.  Meanwhile Inete retreats over to Orion who is blasts away at the one clutching Eku with a Scorching Ray. Tomb of Annihilation (Session 19)

  After the shocked servant finishes screaming and the guards have been calmed down by Thavakean showing off his Dinosaur Race medal they find themselves in Wakanga's company once more. They update Wakanga that they still haven't found the Construct but have a lead. They also find out he could help transport them back to Valindra's Teleportation Circle when they head back out. After a bath Alyssia heads to Wakangas shop to barter. It doesn't go terrifically well but she does make a deal to spend a few days making scrolls to earn some money.  Meanwhile Thavakean finds a way to earn a bit more by heading back to the Colosseum. Taking on 4 panthers they initially knock him down biting into the mighty Goliath. He stands back up though and in a rage of exploding shadow proceeds to cut them down one at a time.
