Tomb of Annihilation (Session 11)
The silhouettes soon resolve into a flock Pteranodons! As they soar in to attack the party they move quickly to intercept. Alyssia roasts 3 as they swoop in with her Burning Hands and as one dodges the brunt of the blast is swoops into Crumb jaws as the Allosaurus tears it out the sky. Thavakean joins them slashing away as the rest of the Pteranodons dive bomb into the party attacking Orion and Undril. Between multiple Sacred Flames from their entourage, Alyssia & Orion slinging spells and Thavakean's mighty blade they soon scatter the Pteranodons. The ones that didn't flee soon fill Crumb up and the party continue their journey.
A foggy day leads to some slow travel and the lack of water takes it's toll. Thavakean offers his share suffering exhaustion but protecting the party. Relief arrives with the following days rain and finally across the river they spot their destination; Camp Righteous!
The first challenge involves crossing the river. Some clever use of Alyssia's Unseen Servant and Solus lets them unhook a boat on the other side to ferry them across.
Camp Righteous turns out to be abandoned! Concerned Undril starts looking about for clues with the party. While they search the leftover tents Thavakean is attracted to a noise coming from what turns out to be an animal pen. A fledgling Axe Beak squawking away in the pen attracts more than Thavakean as Crumb spots his lunch! Despite Thavakeans efforts to stop Crumb he pounces devouring the Axe Beak. It's cries however attract a mob of adult Axe Beaks! Crumb & Thavakean meet the charge soon followed by the others. Orions Cone of Cold zaps into them as Alyssia blade dances forward and Undril soon follows. As Undrils spectral hammer smashes the last Axe Beak a very bloodied Thavakean and Crumb are happy with their victory and large pile of birds for dinner.
Resting and healing up Undril asks what Alyssia found in the tents and she show her the journal of a Commander Breakbone. It seems the camp was overrun and they moved further up the river.
