Tomb of Annihilation (Session 13)

 

The party is battered and broken after the gauntlet of traps in the House of Man & Crocodile then fighting the undead when they left but they find more trouble in the form of Goblins!

Demanding the treasure they found, the unusual Goblins all wear wooden masks that look ant like in their design. With everyone wounded nobody makes any threatening moves and Alyssia tries to cast a spell. The others distract enough for Alyssia to cast the light cantrip on a runic stone she found in a dig years ago. They convince them that was the treasure and the Goblins greedily take it. One thing cause Alyssia to pause though as she notices a similar mark on their masks as the control amulet for the construct they seek. Offering to put on a musical show she is rejected as the goblin states only Goblins allowed in Yellyark. Pleased with their treasure they depart into the jungle leaving the party behind.

Deciding to quickly but cautiously move on before the Goblins realise they've been tricked the party head deep in to the jungle.

A heatwave would threaten to dehydrate them but with their new Alchemy Jug they retrieved from the temple and Orion's create water spells they have plenty of water. 
The following day they come across a tree with Wukka Nuts. These light up when shaken Eku explains which leads to Thavakean climbing the tree and Alyssia sending Solus in their new Owl state up to shake some free. Thavakean almost falls losing grip at one point but swiftly grabs onto a branch knocking a stack down.

Mist is the only thing they see the following day as they rest up. The following however brings a tropical storm that batters them all night. Tired the next day they continue on coming across a Tabaxi hunting party. Thavakean & Two Chalk - the groups leader - shows off  hunting trophies to each other. When asked about red robed people Two Chalk confirms that his friend Opal Wish had seen some. Orion also uses the opportunity to ask about the Order of the Gauntlet by dragging Undril over. The Tabaxi nod and say not far just along river. 

As the party cross back over a slow moving section they see a wooden fortress with spikes and a burning pile of corpses outside.

They approach cautiously and a guard on the gate asks them to declare themselves.

When asked if it's Camp Righteous  the guard shouts back "no Camp Righteous is gone, this is Camp Vengeance!".

  As Orion wonders how to respond to the guard saying it's Camp Vengeance Undril steps forth, "I am Undril Silvertusk, sent to support the Order of the Gauntlet". With that declaration there is some excited chatter at the gatehouse and some cheers of "reinforcements are here!" as the party are allowed inside - except Crumb who the guards insist must stay outside. As the party enter inside they are greeted by Captain Perne Salhana. She seems glad the party is here and tells them many are sick and wounded. The hopes of nice rest are dashed as they realise the camp is in a sorry state. Commander Niles Breakbone steps out from his Command Tent hearing the talking outside muttering something about the Order letting anyone in these days then starts barking orders for the Captain to get them set to work before returning to his tent. Tomb of Annihilation (Session 18)

  Noting the ice as another mystery of the jungle the party continue on. A heavy mist descends upon the Aldani Basin making visibility drop to only about a dozen feet.  Later in the afternoon as they continue through the Aldani Basin something stirs in the swampy water. Three  Giant Crocodiles come lunging out attacking the party! One of the two remaining Tribal Warriors is torn in half, while Crumb is viciously attacked along with Eku.  The remaining warrior rushed forward plunging his spear into the Crocodile attacking Eku and ducking a tail swipe from the creature. As Thavakean explodes with rage, shadowy tendrils lash out at all the Crocodiles as he brings his axe down on the one attacking his faithful dinosaur.  Meanwhile Inete retreats over to Orion who is blasts away at the one clutching Eku with a Scorching Ray. Tomb of Annihilation (Session 19)

  After the shocked servant finishes screaming and the guards have been calmed down by Thavakean showing off his Dinosaur Race medal they find themselves in Wakanga's company once more. They update Wakanga that they still haven't found the Construct but have a lead. They also find out he could help transport them back to Valindra's Teleportation Circle when they head back out. After a bath Alyssia heads to Wakangas shop to barter. It doesn't go terrifically well but she does make a deal to spend a few days making scrolls to earn some money.  Meanwhile Thavakean finds a way to earn a bit more by heading back to the Colosseum. Taking on 4 panthers they initially knock him down biting into the mighty Goliath. He stands back up though and in a rage of exploding shadow proceeds to cut them down one at a time.
